Kwon is a major troublemaker since he was young, as stated by his sensei, Kim Da-Eun. Not following the ultimate defense breaker technique that Da-Eun tells her students to master, Known instead makes the board holder to raise it, performing a full roundhouse kick, snapping the wood in half. Since he didn't listen to Da-Eun's instruction, Kwon is told to clean Grandmaster Kim Sun-Yung's toilet as punishment.

We later see Kwon state his way of defeating opponents with a bigger heart and resolve

He doesn't show the enemy any mercy which is what Kreese has taught him to do. In the final round of the tournament however, when Kreese tells him to sweep Daniel's leg Johnny is shocked, and he express reluctance to do so which shows that Johnny knows that things are going too far. After Daniel defeats Johnny, the latter shows respect
