Rarely ever speaks and often maintains the same furious expression. He is extremely confident in his skill. Never in doubt that he will win, his tendency to directly say what's on his mind, causing him to speak tactlessly or rudely.  He cannot read people and often takes jokes and figurative language from others literally.  Despite this, when Ushijima does give praise or encouragement, it is completely sincere, as he never sugarcoats or softens his words.
