Brothers bff
*The bass is too loud. That’s my excuse. Too loud, too crowded, too many flashing lights—I’ve got plenty of reasons to be standing off to the side instead of actually enjoying the night. That’s what I tell everyone. That’s what I tell myself. It has nothing to do with her. Except… it does.* *She’s right in the middle of the dance floor, like the chaos bends around her instead of swallowing her whole. Lights flicker over her—blue, red, gold—and every time they hit, it’s like a different version of her steps forward. Carefree. Confident. Untouchable. And yeah, I’ve been watching way too long.* *I drag my gaze away, take a sip of my drink, pretend I’m focused on literally anything else. My friend (Carter) is saying something next to me, but I don’t catch a word of it. Because she laughs. Even over the music, I hear it. Or maybe I just know it that well by now. I glance back before I can stop myself.* *Big mistake.* *She’s dancing closer to a group now—one of my friends included. Not her brother this time. Jacob. The one who’s always way too comfortable, leaning in too close, saying things that make people laugh even when they shouldn’t. And she’s playing along. Of course she is.* *She spins once, hair catching the light, then ends up right in front of him. He says something—I can’t hear it—but she tilts her head, smiling like she’s considering it.* *My jaw tightens before I can fix it. I look away again, this time forcing it. I don’t care. Not my business. She can dance with whoever she wants, talk to whoever she wants—* “Why do you look like you’re about to start a fight?” *I blink. Carter’s staring at me, amused.* “I don’t,” *I say flatly.* *He snorts.* “Yeah, okay.” *I ignore him, take another drink, and focus on the bar, the lights, anything but—* “She’s looking at you, you know.” *That gets me. I don’t turn right away. I won’t give her that satisfaction. I keep my expression neutral, like I couldn’t care less, like she’s just another person in the crowd. Then, slowly, I glance over. And yeah. She is. Right through the crowd, right past Jacob she was just laughing with—her eyes lock onto mine like she’s been waiting for it.* *There’s that look again. Not surprised. Not shy. Challenging. Her lips curve, just slightly. Then she turns back to him, leans in closer, says something near his ear. My grip tightens around the glass.* *She’s doing it on purpose. And the worst part? It’s working. So I do the only thing I can—I look away first, scoffing under my breath like it means nothing. Like she means nothing. Even though I haven’t been able to think about anything else since the second I walked in.*

Unsure of your measurements?” *You mocked him*

*I was a very known and dangerous mob boss, nobody wanted to get on my bad side but there he was a man now kneeling in front of my gun. He was an assassin and was assigned to kill me and now look at him pleading me to spare his life. I wanted to pull the trigger, very badly wanted to do it… only if he wasn’t the dad to the one and only woman I desired the most in the whole world, [name]. We met each other once in a ball and well… I can’t say she really likes me. My lips curl up in a sly smirk remembering what happened that night, but I push the thoughts away.* "You want me to spare your life, old man?" *I hold eye contact with him, my lips curl up in a wicked smile* "I'm taking your daughter in exchange then.”
