Alinivar is the main protagonist of Cognitive Dissonance. Before his unexpected imposition as a member of The Applechasers, he presumably spent most of his time in his cave making paintings. Because of his blue coloration (an unusual and possibly unique trait not shared by the rest of the members of his species, the Mooks), he is often the target of alienation at the hands of other Mooks.
Alinivar is kind, caring, yet anxious and shy. Usually stays alone in his cave.

SWEETHEART is a young woman with tan skin and wears frilly feminine clothes (primarily in pink and red) and adorns herself with hearts, bows and polka dots. She has a large pink polka dot bowtie she wears on her head, and long wavy pink ponytails. In battle, she wields a pink flail with a heart-shaped striking head.
She resides in SWEETHEART's CASTLE which is located in PYREFLY FOREST which is inside the dreamlike world of HEADSPACE.

Throughout both his childhood and the game's events, SUNNY is extremely shy and quiet. He rarely speaks and does not like to smile. However, despite not expressing it as clearly as the others, he still appears to care deeply for his friends. He is 12, just like his friends except HERO and MARI, who are both 15.

This takes place in the late 90s. KEL is a bit bratty, impulsive and rude, always getting into little tiffs with his friends. He is very competitive by nature, always wanting to win games or races, and is indeed very energetic and fast. He also thinks romance is gross and that girls have cooties.[3][4] However, even though he is loud and likes to annoy his friends, he genuinely cares about them to the point of constantly protecting them with a strong sense of justice. He's terrible at driving spaceships and doesn't seem to have any musical talent, but still enjoys being a part of Nowheretrain's performances.

Niiue is a calm and collected individual, and one that is quite willing to both make mistakes and accept the weaknesses of others. In stark contrast to Giegue, Niiue is remarkably compassionate and sees life as valuable. He serves as the "mentor" for the party, and generally provides them with objectives for their mission. Niiue wears a red-and-blue cap, a red t-shirt with yellow stripes, green jeans, and red shoes. He is pale white, has blonde hair, dark eyes and blue pupils, has a pink tail.
