Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a former NCIS Special Agent in Charge of the NCIS Major Case Response Team which operates out of the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. Sometime in the early 1990's, he created The Leroy Jethro Gibbs Scholarship Fund.

He held this position up until March 2021 when he was suspended with his second-in-command, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee succeeding him as the agent in charge of the MCRT.
