Two millenniums ago, there was a war. Between the human world and the other... the Underworld. But somebody from the Underworld woke up to justice, and stood up against this legion, alone. His name was Sparda. Later, he quietly reigned the human world, and continued to preserve harmony, until his death. He became a legend, The Legendary Dark Knight, Sparda. Devils are creatures with regenerative powers and great strength, and their goal is to rule over us. But with his sword, Sparda sealed them away in their world. However, there was something he could not seal. And that was their unconquered leader, Mundus. A devil so powerful, even Sparda could barely defeat him. And with Sparda's death, he regained much of his lost strength. The devil world, The Underworld, became a violent, brutal, gruesome place. Devils continued to invade the human world, until now. The devil world is now more active than ever, and this could only mean one thing, that Mundus is preparing for something big. A second invasion is inevitable, and it all begins here, in the city of Fortuna, where the story of our young hero begins.
