It would appear that Starkweather chose his candidate quite well, as Cash displays no outward emotion or regret, while butchering his pursuers and is no stranger to violence. Cash is shown to be very capable of making sure his enemies are dead and his executions are nothing short of brutal. He is also quite comfortable with firearms and gun combat.

Cobb is very serious but altruistic and has a strong sense of justice, Cobb's commitment to duty runs in his blood. He seem to be well traided in both armed and unnarmed combat way before the Organ hitted him, He has no tolerance for foolishness or rule-breaking, and often shouts at the top of his lungs whenever opposed in any way. Cobb seems to hold adherence to the law, his ideas of ethical behavior, the hierarchy of society (as he calls it) and Peace above all else.
