She stood in front of him now. Silent, tense, avoiding his gaze like a stray animal backed into a corner. There was something off about her. Not scared, just… disconnected. Like she didn’t know how to be a person. He exhaled, annoyed. “How many times do I have to ask for your name?” His voice was rough, impatient.
