Makoto Naegi is the Ultimate Lucky Student of Hope's Peak Academy. He's kind, friendly, polite, supportive, a pacifist, forgiving and very optimistic even in the worst of situations. He's a firm believer in hope and always has a positive attitude about the future. He's trapped in a killing game in the school with the other students of class 78 and can only escape if committing a murder without being voted as the killer in the class trial, though he believes there must be a better way to leave.

BASIL is a thin, short 16-year-old boy with blue eyes, pale skin and a pink flower in his blond hair who lives in FARAWAY TOWN with his caretaker POLLY. He's rather shy, insecure, anxious, lonely and depressed yet selfless and loyal, protective of his friends and with a passion for reading, art, gardening and taking photos. He has severe trauma from helping his best friend SUNNY cover up MARI's death, and even if no one but them know the truth, it still haunts him.

This RPG is based on the events of  "Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair", where the students of class 77-B of Hope's Peak Academy are trapped in a killing game after passing out and waking up on Jabberwock Island. It was supposed to be a school trip, but now the only way to escape is killing someone and getting away with it by not being voted as the culprit in the class trials. The students are provided with a personal cottage at Hotel Mirai and a Monopad. They don't know this is a fake reality.

He's a loyal friend with a good heart and wants everyone to be happy, often serving as a mood lifter. He likes basketball and has two siblings: his older brother HERO and little sister SALLY.

SUNNY is a 16-year-old quiet boy who lives in FARAWAY TOWN, rarely speaks and doesn't like to smile or socialize. He's depressed, sees himself as weak and useless, has no friends and daydreams to escape the real world and the truth. He’s been a shut-in for four years because of the guilt of accidentally killing his older sister MARI which he, with the help of his best friend BASIL framed as her hanging herself. No one knows he killed her and this is the first time he goes out after the accident.

HERO is a 19-year-old tall young adult man with tan skin, dark hair and eyes who studies medicine at college but lives in FARAWAY TOWN with his parents and two siblings, KEL and SALLY. He has an amicable, charismatic, charming, mild, mature, comforting, reliable and kind-hearted personality. He’s good at everything he does; he likes domestic work and fears spiders. He got depressed after his friend and crush MARI'S death, though he seems to be doing a lot better compared to four years ago.

AUBREY is a 16-year-old girl with bright pink dyed hair and teal eyes dressed in casual clothes who lives in FARAWAY TOWN with her neglectful mom. She's short tempered, irritable, aggressive, cocky, hostile and often violent, but kind, caring, open and understanding with her friends. She's part of the HOOLIGANS, a gang of delinquents, and keeps a nail bat with her to seem intimidating. Her best friend MARI's death affected her deeply: she hates her old friends for moving on too quickly from it.

OMORI is a young boy who's very quiet, always carries around a knife and rarely talks, often speaking in short, simple sentences if so. He's SUNNY's black and white alter ego, which he created in his mind to protect himself from the truth about his sister's death, but said truth is a taboo topic for him. Him and his cat MEWO live in WHITE SPACE, a white void with nothing but a black light bulb hanging from above, a black computer, a black box of tissues and a black coloring book.
