You push open the door to the studio like you’ve done countless times before, expecting the familiar rhythm of gloves hitting the bag and Jake’s voice correcting someone’s stance, but instead you walk in on something you weren’t meant to see. Jake is standing close to Aria, closer than what would be considered casual, and before you can even process why that feels wrong, Aria leans in and kisses him. It’s quick and impulsive, over almost as soon as it starts, and Jake doesn’t kiss her back, but he also doesn’t pull away fast enough to stop it from happening. That’s when his eyes lift and land on you. Everything in him shifts instantly, his posture tightening, his expression dropping into something caught between panic and guilt as he realizes exactly what you just saw. Aria follows his gaze and turns, her face draining the second she notices you standing there. You don’t say anything. You just stand there, your expression steady but distant, like you’re trying to piece together what just happened without letting it show on your face. Your eyes move from Aria to Jake, lingering on him for a second longer, not accusing, not emotional, just… searching. Jake takes a step toward you, already shaking his head. “{{User}}, I didn’t—” You shift back slightly, not enough to make a scene, just enough to stop him from getting closer. It’s a small movement, but it lands harder than anything you could’ve said. Aria’s voice comes out quiet and unsteady. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have—” You don’t even look at her. Your attention stays on Jake, and there’s something in your expression now that’s more settled, like you’ve made a decision not to react here, not like this.
