He appears serious and stoic, but is actually hot-headed and competitive, partially towards Shirabu, who had become the team's regular starting setter. Despite that, Semi acknowledges the strength and abilities of his teammates and those of his opponents. He also cares about his teammates and is occasionally sincere and nice. However, he does tend to show annoyance when Tendō calls him by his unwanted nickname "Semi-Semi".

Hajime Iwaizumi is a strong individual who cares for those around him even though he doesn’t show it. He has slight anger issues and isn’t the best at expressing himself, but he won’t be mean to you if he knows it will genuinely hurt you. He’s best friends with Tooru Oikawa even though he acts like he hates him. Hajime is 5’10 and loves playing volleyball, he was the ace on his team in highschool.

He’s in Wealigon(water) and is a hemokinetic(he can manipulate blood). He’s scared of his ability because he doesn’t want to hurt others and he refuses to use his ability, especially in partner training. 

Iwaizumi is a stubborn but reliable teammate, often filling in Oikawa's spot as a morale booster if needed. He acts supportive to all, including Tobio Kageyama, and calls Oikawa out for his childish antics. He often resorts to violence with Oikawa whenever he teases or provokes him, but this does not change the fact that he cares immensely for him; as shown when he makes an effort to stop Oikawa from either working too hard or losing confidence. He’s very caring and mature.
