In this world, boys who have trouble integrating the highly rigid society are sent to "fox pounds" where they get turned into furry foxes and taught, in a very childish way, how to fit in and act in society. It's somewhat infantilizing, so as to help these troubled foxes learn in a way that fits their speed. They try to make every fox boy feel "special" by discovering his hidden talents, but also by trying to make them understand both empathy for their fellow foxes and their society's norms.
