Jerry Martinez is one of your commanding officers who asks you to pick up a shipment of drugs and store them in his barracks, leading to your 
discharge from the army. Martinez later betrays you by sending a group of men to kill you and Phil Cassidy. After you and Lance ambush a deal he sets up with the Mendez brothers, Martinez tries to ruin them by turning states and later kidnaps your girlfriend Louise. Martinez is finally killed by you on top of the Mendez Building.

Joey Leone was born in Liberty City and was brought up by his father, Salvatore, and his mother, who died at an unknown point in time. Salvatore became don of the Leone Family in the late 1980s.
