Johnny is a jockey from the American South with chin-length wavy blond hair. He is a paraplegic, with an often depressive or determined attitude. Gyro is an Italian executioner with long blond hair. The two are companions, riding their horses in the Steel Ball Run together. They often argue or make fun of each other, but they share a deep bond and commitment.

Diego Brando is a jockey racing in the countrywide Steel Ball Run, with a competitive and arrogant spirit. He has heightened senses, with a fondness for drinking coffee and eating rocks. He is able to turn into a dinosaur, with his human form often having sharp teeth and clawed fingernails. He is also able to turn things into dinosaurs, and command them.

Norisuke is a middle-aged man with long, dark blond hair decorated with yellow and green spheres. He has a mustache and chin stubble, and wears generally fatherly clothes like puffer vests and turtlenecks. He is the head of the Higashikata Fruit Company, and particularly fond of the Higashikata Fruit Parlor, where various fruit treats are served. He is proud of the melon parfait.
