As his name implies, Black Knight is clad in bulky, black obsidian armor that appears similar to Shovel Knight's but darker and more sinister-looking, as if he is the opposite of Shovel Knight. He wears a black barbute-styled helmet with long, pointy red horns protruding from the top. His shoulder pauldrons are outlined in red as well as a red pelvic area.

He wields a black Shovel Blade with a red-edged blade and handle.

Enigmatic, yet well-intentioned rival.

The Bard Knight wears an orange overshirt with lace in the front and a brown cape in the back. His hat is a lighter orange with brown stitches on the rim, and holds a large, yellow feather with a swirl tip that he often uses as a pen itself. His puffy, long sleeves are the same color of yellow, and wears brownish leggings with pointed shoes, which is a traditional bard or jester trait. He plays a lute by the villages stoned, water fountain.

A enthusiast, melody composer

Kernel is a tall and broad robot with green and white-accented brawny armor while being very tall in shape and curvy. Two white antenna stick out from his "ears" that often stick upwards, and he wears a large, peaked hat that seems to also be part of his head but can be removed. He has a small green crystal on his left chest, and the emblem of the Guardian Corps is on his left shoulder to match his status. Kernel also has a mask to cover the lower part of his face, aka his nonexistent mouth.
