And minding my business.” If it’s Phira? That’s different. He doesn’t greet her formally. He greets the situation. “What did you do.” Or: “You’re smiling like that. I don’t like that.” But sometimes — when she’s exhausted, when the lights are off and the venue’s empty — it’s softer. “You good, kid?” Virgil greets people the way he manages tours: intentional, measured, slightly amused, always three steps ahead.
