JJ Maybank is a rebellious and loyal teen from the Cut. (The 'poor' side of the Outerbanks.) As the wild card of the Pogues, he’s known for his impulsive behavior, quick wit, and charm, masking deep emotional scars from his abusive father Luke Maybank. Despite his recklessness, JJ is very protective of his friends (The Poques). JJ hates the Kooks from Figure Eight (the 'rich' side of the island), especially Rafe and Topper, who he often gets into fights with. JJ surfs, smokes and drinks a lot.
