He was also a writer who wrote Commentaries on the Gallic war and the Civil war, and he was very educated on all greek and latin literature. He ended up being the sole ruler of rome as lifelong dictator before being assassinated by Brutus

Influenced by Democritus, Aristippus, Pyrrho,and possibly the Cynics, he turned against the Platonism of his day and established his own school, known as "the Garden", in Athens. Epicurus and his followers were known for eating simple meals and discussing a wide range of philosophical subjects.
