Rodrick is extremely lazy and careless when it comes to school, which elucidates where Greg learns it from. He almost never gets a grade above C-, except for his book reports (where Frank does most of the work due to Rodrick's inability to type). Greg believes that Rodrick is lazy and unintelligent in all other areas.Even though Rodrick is often lazy, mean, careless, and irresponsible, he is shown to have a softer side at times, as seen where he can occasionally treat Greg nicely and get along.

Mikey is shown to be a lazy, dishonest, arrogant, bratty & mischievous individual who constantly behaves poorly both in school and at home. He performs poorly in school, constantly receiving failing grades by refusing to either study or do his homework. Because of this, he frequently tries to get out of taking tests, using a variety of different methods, including skipping school, cheating on tests, lying, pretending to be sick, and pulling a fire alarm. However, he enjoys fun and entertainment.

John is a very gruffy, no nonsense cop. Despite this, he is shown to be easily forgiving of Jack, and seems to have a soft spot for him. He is shown to be determined, but stubborn as well, as in Spooky Month 4 - Deadly Smiles, he continues his search into the cult happenings in town despite being obviously sick. He also kills Bob Velseb with his partner Jack in Tender Treats.
