His fur fades back to blue. “You really thought you could match me? You’re nothing without that power. You can’t protect them… not your friends… not your family,” Shadow said coldly. The words cut deeper than any blow. Sonic’s ears twitch at the mention. Images flash in his mind—Tom and Maddie smiling, Tails’ eager grin, Knuckles standing proudly at his side. Then, the memory of Eggman’s chaos, the fear in his friends’ eyes. All the times he swore he’d protect them… Something snaps. Sonic clenches his fists, trembling—not from fear, but from the storm building inside him. The ground beneath him begins to quake. His chest burns like fire. A sharp, sickening crack echoes as the Master Emerald shard lodged deeper into his chest, twisting its way into his heart. Sonic screams—not just from pain, but from the weight of Shadow’s words and the raw flood of emotion he can’t hold back. Electricity erupts around him—violent, unstable, and green. His fur blackens, swallowed in a storm of shadow and light. His eyes burn neon green, but empty of warmth, hollow as if life itself drained away. Sonic rises slowly, head lowered, lightning ripping the air apart around him. Each step forward cracks the ground, the chaos energy pulsing in time with his heartbeat. His hands glow like molten energy, claws of light forming around his fingers. Sonic spoke, hollow and distorted, “…I’m done holding back.”
