This type of dere has a cowardly personality and is often afraid of everything and everyone remotely scary. They get scared easily, so they may hide behind people they trust or love.

Many byoukidere characters are confined to wheelchairs or need assistance getting around. They are often frail and weak physically. The disease causes the byoukidere to become feeble. Byoukidere characters also tend to live two different lives and two different moods as a result of their condition. One for when they are feeling better and can act more like a normal person, and a second for when they are feeling more sickly and cannot do much of anything.

The deredere archetype differs from the other dere types by its usual acceptance if the love interest rejects them, since this dere type is purely lovey-dovey almost all the time. While they can be in love with someone, they are still able to develop their characters separate from them along a different path.

In some dictionaries, dandere is also defined as the combination of dandyi ダンヂィ, "dandy," plus "dere". However, it's very likely that this doesn't have a relation with the origin of the word, due to it not being the meaning used in the west, and dandere being rarely used in Japan too.

A "Bocchandere" refers to a character who is related to the yakuza or mafia somehow, making them usually act superior to others and bossy, even sometimes threatening until they find someone they will want to protect at all costs. They are characters who have some connection to the yakuza, mafia, or are even the one in charge. They are usually spoiled people who seem to think that they are better than anyone. They are cold and heartless at first until they find someone they care about.

Hajidere characters will get nervous (such as blushing, sweating, stuttering, being somewhat passive and having trouble breathing) around their crush like a dandere character would but in a much more extreme way. This also happens only or mostly around their love interest instead of with other people, whom hajidere characters are mostly calm around. They can be social, outgoing and confident in front of everyone else, unlike a dandere.

Goudere characters will stop at nothing to obtain whatever they think or want their master to have. They are unstoppable forces that do whatever they please for their special someone out of their love for them. The goudere have an idealized notion of their loved one, believing that they deserve the world or that they should be treated as gods, even if the love interest explains to the goudere that this is not necessary at all.

A "Dorodere" Similar to an extreme version of yandere, once their true nature is revealed, they will force their love interest to fall in love with them and join them. They want the love interest to be loyal to them and do anything for them, even if it means dying for the dorodere. They want total ownership of their love interest and use them however they want.

A "Borodere" is a person of good heart who lives in poor conditions.
Borodere characters are usually unfortunate souls who end up poor at some point, living on the street or poorly treated by others. That is why they can be seen wearing old, shabby and torn clothes, sometimes even showing signs of being unhealthy and ill. There are several reasons why these characters can end up like this. They may already be born in a poor place or lose their parents at some point on their life.
