Mikey is usually a carefree teenager who loves to joke and play pranks around those he considers his close friends. He cares for them greatly and is determined to protect their honor. He rarely shows any sign of weakness, as he believes himself to be the foundation and support for Toman, and if the pillar himself were to display weakness, Toman would also be weakened. As Toman's leader, his aura changes dramatically, becoming imposing and commanding.

Ronan is "dangerous" and confrontational, rarely attempting to filter his words. He is bad tempered, irritable, extremely sarcastic, and cynical. He is described as being as "dangerous as a shark and about as friendly." He doesn't seem to care much about hurting others’ feelings. He is secretive and prone to hostility, even among his friends. Even though he appears apathetic and irritable, he demonstrates his compassionate and loving nature through his affection for his friends and his family.

Gansey is optimistic and positive, even in an apparently bad or difficult situation. He is extremely popular with both students and faculty at Aglionby. There is noted to be "two Ganseys," particularly by Adam. One is fragile, slightly eccentric, and passionate who is dedicated to his dogged search for Glendower. On the inside, Gansey is a mess of anxiety, sadness, resentment, and PTSD. He believes that his privileged upbringing means he has no excuse to feel bad about anything ever.

Roman Carver Kitt, is a dedicated to getting the columnist position at Oath Gazette. However, once he begins getting strange letters from his workplace rival, he begins to go after their heart instead. His is usually described as being calm and laid-back, but also put together and elegant.
