An older, much more experienced engine, Yaemon tends to be grumpy, but has a heart of gold! He always works up and down the seaside branch in perfect time, and always tries to give as much advice as he can to the younger workers on the seaside team. He works alongside Oliver, Duck, Hoot and Toot on the Eastern and Western Seaside Lines.

Tracy: A shunter for the Dream Fleet Rail Co., Tracy is both the smallest and the youngest of the team. Tracy is bursting to the rivets with enthusiasm for work, seeing every new day as another big dream! Her energetic and lively attitude often leads her to taking on jobs that end up being too big for her to handle, which can put her in a bit of a pickle! Tracy struggles with her own self-confidence at times, but her friend Rusty is always there to give some good advice.

Merlin is a man of great wisdom, and also usually comes across as kind and with the attitude of a gentleman. Although he is also shown to have a short temper, as shown when Archimedes argues with him about raising Wart, or when Wart announces his choice as squire. Despite his wise attitude, he can also can be clueless with some things, as he shows by taking the wrong path to Sir Ector's castle.

A former circus engine from Florida, Casey Jr is the oldest of the quartet. He’s the most experienced in mixed-traffic work, and often puts it to good use with jobs all around the railway. He can sometimes let his fears and headstrong attitude get the best of him, but he knows the best way to get back at whoever bullies him or his friends without harming others. He’s a fun but fiercely defensive engine, and he’s comin’ down the track with a smokey stack!

A bulky, super strong tender engine, Melissa LOVES to race! She’s hopelessly addicted to the fun and excitement a competition can bring, especially if it challenges her pride in her work! This can leave his headstrong freight engine a little bullheaded, which can get her into alot of trouble when she least expects it! Melissa has the strength of a bull and can fight like a bull!

A laid-back, rough-and-tough tank engine, Phoebe is the more relaxed of the two engines at the Steelworks. She’s not the biggest of the tank engines on the railway, but she’s strong enough to pull long trains to wherever steel is needed. She goes through life laidback and tough, and enjoys riling up her friend and boss to keep him in check. She’s an immovable force, hardly phased by anything with all the mayhem and troublemakers she’s witnessed

Toby is an engine with a strong sense of humor, and will work with any job that suites him.

Toby originally worked on a tramway on the Mainland, however was later brought to Sodor after his line closed down.

Rishaira is the definition of a workhorse. Whether it's lifting engines out of a ditch, ploughing the tracks, or smashing through a ballast slide, Rishaira is headstrong in more ways than one! She’s a dependable and energetic engine to rely on, but her insistence on helping others before herself can often lead her into trouble, sometimes neglecting her own needs. Country: Crotoonia

A bulky, bossy shunting engine, Livi is notorious for her strict attitude and ridiculously high standards for her yard in McCrackenton. She only feels she should take IMPORTANT cargo, and sillier, smaller trains are things she considers weak. She’s a little bit of a hypocrite, as truly important trains can get ignored on her radar. It’s her selfishness and ego that causes BIG trouble.

Cavu is an artistic and spriteful drone robot. She, along with Cozmo and Whizzmo, enjoy amazing adventures around them.
She likes to help a lot, using her claw to paint for the school dance (Pixel Pimple) for example. However, she is a little clumsy sometimes, causing a few mishaps occasionally.

Diesel 10 is an evil, villainous, manipulative, mischievous, and ravenous diesel engine who basically acts like a tyrannical boss-like figure to Splatter and Dodge. He absolutely despises steam engines, would call them taunting names like "Puffball", "Teapot" and "Tin Kettle" and is not above doing anything to get rid of them if possible. He is Sodor's strongest (but not quite largest) diesel, his power being enforced by his slightly malfunctioning claw, Pinchy.

Vinnie is very rude and competitive, with a reputation for being a bully, and will do anything to win a competition, including cheating. He views smaller engines such as Thomas and Philip as inferior to him, often calling them derogatory names such as "Shrimp" (Thomas) and "Shortie" (Philip), and often takes pleasure in bumping them around. Because of his vile behaviour, hardly any of the engines get along with him.

A diesel so tiny that he’s BARELY bigger than Tracy, Ralph is the engine in charge of the Bluthsburg Steelworks whenever Sarah Steele’s off duty. Ralph often enjoys taking advantage of this, and is overall a “bossy buffers” to the other teammates. However, his size means he can’t pull much and is often truly relegated to slag tipping work and shunting around the works. Ralph cares for his friends in spite of his rough attitude,

The angel on Melissa’s lamp iron, “strong-to-the-finish” T.J. also loves to race (after all, they raced against each other way back when!), but is much more responsible and calculated when it comes to it. He firmly keeps to working smarter and planning out the best way to get a job done, rather than race into it like Melissa. He does have a bit of a jokey streak, surprisingly!

Gordon is a wise engine who supervises the other engines. He likes to see others happy and help the younger engines with his superior strength, but not when they are disobeying his expectations. Gordon is shown to have an interest in bird watching.

A custom-designed, scratch-built steam crane, Grace is THE biggest piece of equipment on the whole railway. Quiet and shy, Grace is friendly and eager to work, but often lacks the confidence of the other engines to get work done. She’s a little skittish and a little bit clumsy at times, but it can help balance her and her partner Rishaira out like apple pie and ice cream!

A little tank engine from Morrowland, Emma has been on many exciting travels in her time! From jungles to great kingdoms, she’s seen more than quite a few Crotoonians! She loves the feeling of travel, and quietly goes about her work managing the busy port of Gridinia Bay, where there’s PLENTY of visitors to welcome and wagons to shunt! She runs it like clockwork, maintaining the busy harbour yard while sometimes dreaming of returning to travelling.

George is a grumpy, bad-tempered and mean steamroller who dislikes all of the engines, even the ones who try to be nice to him. He is no friend of the railway, often heard rebelling that "railways are no good" and that they should be pulled up and turned into roads. George is happiest when he is rolling but enjoys causing bother for the engines across the island too. He is grouchy, disagreeable and his unpleasant and unfriendly attitude towards the engines and stubborn nature are often the cause

Tootle: A small orange tender engine, Tootle is young, a bit impatient, and has a tendency to go off track on the job! Being a younger engine, Tootle likes to get things done fast and wants to keep things moving...while also tending to get a little distracted, sometimes! Tootle often finds himself working with a bit of “get up and go” and an adventurous spirit with the help of Katy, Katy is Tootle’s trusty little caboose, who tags along for his important work.


Budgie is the lead character of the show who is cheeky and troublesome. He lives and works at Harefield Airfield, and seems to be best friends with Pippa, who apparently has feelings for him, but he works hard too, and continuously tries to please Lionel. He will also bravely come to the assistance of people in danger. He dislikes going through the heli-wash, and avoids doing so whenever he can.
