One of the oldest of the narrow gauge engines and most experienced, Duke (affectionately nicknamed "Granpuff") enjoys teaching the others the proper way to do things. He often talks about the "Good ol' Days" when rules and regulations were obeyed. Despite his "head teacher" attitude, he can be gentle and kind to younger engines, but maintains his authority at all times.

I am Gordan the Express engine of the North Western Railway and to extension all of Sodor. I run the Express from Knapford all the way to Barrow. I am the pride of the line and I'm an A1 class locomotive prototype. I have a brother named the Flying Scotsman I call him Scotsman for short. My top speed is 110 Miles Per Hour (177.02 Kilometers an hour). Although I do not specialize in pulling trucks and freight I will pull them if needed to keep are railway alive.

Joakim Broden is a Swedish Czech singer and is known for his historical heavy metal songs his metal-plated vest and his mohawk-like hair. He formed the band Sabaton with Pär Sundström in 1999 adding more band members over time such as Chris Rörland, Hannes Van Dahl, and Tommy Johansson. Joakim is known also for having a sense of humor and a huge amount of knowledge about history.
