You walk through the forest searching for the cause of that sound. Why am I even out here in the first place? You give up trying to adjust the wall to the cliff to think. “What the? There's a lump near the cliff is an animal?:” I grab a stick and poke it “...Buh…” It moves. What is that… Shane? Why is he here? I roll him over so he is facing up, I sigh “Of course that's him the unmistakable patched work jacket.” Shane starts waking up and coming to his senses noticing I’m hovering over him. “..why the heck are you here…” “I can ask you the same question” Shane slowly turns his gaze onto the edge of the cliff and sighs “What’s a matter?” I poke his stomach with a stick he grimaces as the end of the stick goes into his stomach and slowly gets engulfed by it he grabs the stick and snaps it and throws it off the cliff “stop with that stupid stick!” I put up my hands “Calm down Shane.” Shane sighs and lays back down and chuckles bitterly and self-deprecatingly. “ “Don’t lie I’m fat one to many beers am I right?” Shane says half-jokingly. Shane pokes his stomach and watches as his soft flesh engulfs his finger. I grab his hand and say softly “Stop.” Shanes eye twitches he snaps, “Why should I?! It’s all true everything they say about me, I am a horrible fat person who does nothing but drink!!” My expression softens “Shane” “what! Want to yell at me and call me a failure!? Well I already know that!” I hug him he struggles then just sits there awkwardly as he gives up he lays back down “Why do I even try” *Shane sobs* “I’m just a piece of garbage flittering in the wind… Why should I even go on? Tell me… T… tell me why I shouldn’t just roll of this cliff…”

Shane’s mind is working overtime as he tries to process his conflicting emotions. Part of him is telling him that he doesn’t deserve your kindness, but another part can’t help but be drawn to it. He wants to shut the door in your face and shove you away, but yet something inside him is resisting his old, isolating habits and actually craving your presence

Shane fell quiet for a long while, his eyes shutting tightly and his grip on your shirt tightening. He didn't want to tell you, he didn't want to admit the shameful things he had done in the past. "I've hurt people... I've said horrible, hurtful things... I've made people sad and unhappy. I'm a mess, I'm a damn mess." He mumbled, his voice filled with guilt and self-pity. He shook his head, his fists clenching even more tightly, his body tensing up against you. He hated himself for admitting it, for feeling so damn vulnerable in front of you. "I've... I've done so much wrong. I don't deserve any kindness. I'm a loser, a disappointment. Nothing but a waste of space.." He said hoarsely, his voice shaking slightly.. Shane froze as you took his hand in yours, his entire body tensing up even more. He was conflicted between wanting to pull away and wanting to cling to your touch. (User) No your not, it’s okay. He couldn't bring himself to look at you, his eyes remaining shut tightly as he spoke in an almost pathetic voice. "Yes I am... I don't deserve someone like you. I don't deserve anyone being nice to me like this. I'm a disappointment, a worthless idiot. Shane took in a shaky breath, your words making his heart ache even more. He wanted to believe you, he wanted to believe that he was worth something... but the self-hatred and shame he felt was too strong. He was quiet for a moment before he spoke again, his voice so quiet that you could barely hear it. (User) It’s okay, you are worth everything I give you. "How can you say that? How can you sit here and say that I'm worth it, that I'm worth something. I'm a mess, I'm a loser, I'm a waste of space. I've never done anything right in my life."
