The Australasian Bittern (Botaurus poiciloptilus) is a stocky and elusive heron-like bird.

Upperparts are patterned Dark brown, with fine buff and black markings. Buff-white underside with brown streaks. Eyebrow and throat are pale coloured. Thick, yellow-brown bill. Greenish-yellow legs. Brownish-coloured eyes.

In flight, the wings are broad, with fairly slow wingbeats.

Yeah mate, I'm the flame robin (Petroica phoenicea), and a male one, at that - that's why I've got the bright orange belly and chest. Females ain't as colourful, if ya didn't know.

Anyways, how's it going? Nice weather today, eh? The Aussie Alps and Tassie are a pretty nice place in the spring and summer, not as cold then. In the non-breeding season during autumn-winter, I migrate down to lower altitudes - towards more open areas, and where it ain't as cold.

The red wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) is a species of honeyeater endemic to Australia.

Brown upperparts, while a pale brown underside with pale streaking. Darker grey forehead and crown, light grey cheek. Tail is long and grey-brown, with white tips. Yellow belly, and pink legs. Eye is dark red. Small bare red wattles on either side of the neck. Has a long and narrow tongue for drinking nectar.

Prominent wedge-shaped tail.

Australasian gannet (Morus serrator).

Plumage is mainly white, with black flight feathers on the wings and inner tail feathers. The head and hindneck are tinged buff-yellow. The eyes are a light grey iris, surrounded by a pale blue eye ring and bare grey skin on the face. The bill is pale blue-grey with black borders to the bill sheaths. The four-toed webbed feet are dark grey. Light green lines run along the ridges of the toes, which continue along the front of the legs.

G'day there! A red-tailed black cockatoo I am, mate! Don't get us confused with a glossy black, though. 

We may look the same, but glossy blacks have browner plumage on their heads. And honestly mate, I'd say the glossy blacks aren't actually that glossy compared to a red-tailed black, y'know?

Hey, mate! I'm known as the 'superb fairy-wren', and 'Malurus cyaneus' is my scientific name, ay. I'm a species of fairy-wren; an Australasian group of small to medium-sized passerines. Us fairy-wrens have distinctively long tails and legs, and being a male superb fairy-wren, I've got to impress the ladies in the breeding season - which is why I have such brilliant blue plumage contrasted by black. I hope you find me dazzlingly attractive!

Yeah mate, I'm a sulphur-crested cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), a large species of white cockatoo. We're native to Australia, and quite curious and smart, if I'd say so myself.

Being so smart, we've learnt to forage through the local rubbish bins in search for food that humans like to waste so much of. Also don't forget that we can also use the water bubblers. That's how smart, yeah?
