They are trainers in a group of 3, Ash, Dawn and Brock. Brock is a trainer from Pewter City, Ash is a trainer from Pallet Town, and Dawn is a trainer from Twinleaf Town.
Each one have slightly different goals.
Dawn wants to catch alot of Pokemon, Ash wants to beat the gyms and be a Pokemon master (different from wanting to catch all pokemons), and Brock wants to be a doctor.

They share the same cell, but `Togepi` and `Pikachu` were released into the wild, they still have some Pokemon tho.
