The Buried is one of the Entities. It is the manifestation of a collection of fears that deal with being trapped without enough space: claustrophobia, small spaces, of being unable to breathe and the underground and dust, of being at the center of everything and it is all pushing down. Deep water can be associated with The Buried, but only when the effect is described as claustrophobic, crushing, drowning, heavy, sinking, etc. Known for the coffin that breekon and hope were tied to.

The Dark is one of the Entities. It is the primal fear of the dark and the unknowns regarding what lurks within it. It, along with The Hunt and The End, is said to be one of the oldest Entities.It often manifests as dark/sticky/brackish water, as well as coldness and blindness. The Dark has a large following in the form of The People's Church of the Divine Host, also connected with Outer Bay Shipping and Ny-Ålesund. It is the manifestation of the fear of being watched, exposed, followed, of having secrets known, but also the drive to know and understand, even if your discoveries might destroy you.The Eye is one of the main entities of the series, being the power behind the Magnus Institute, influencing its members and granting some powers. It is the entity that grants the Archivist, Jonathan Sims, the ability to ask a question and compel the listener to answer.

The Desolation is one of The Entities. It is a manifestation of pain, loss and unthinking or cruel destruction: all of the worst parts of fire, with none of the warmth. Jude Perry calls it a reckoning, a surging tide of destruction and pain and blackened earth, the destructive agonizing heat of burning flesh and land scoured of life, the light with the comfort of fire stripped from it, leaving nothing but the terror of its approach. It is the fear of not knowing where, how, or when pain will come but that it will, and can be violent like a frenzied killer or calm, cold and regimented like soldiers firing on the battlefield. The Stranger is one of the entities. It is the fear of things that are almost human, but not quite, and the creeping sense that something is not right but you don't know how. It manifests as objects pretending to be humans, like mannequins, wax models and taxidermy, and is often connected to skin, faces, and identity. The Spiral is one of the Entities. It is based on the fear of madness, that your world isn’t right, that your mind is lying to you. It deals with deception, lying, deceiving the mind and senses. The Spiral is associated with fractal patterns, hallucinations, doubt of sanity, impossible geometry, maddening realms and dimensions, doors and mazes. It has avatars and monsters that serve it. The Twisting Deceit, TMA fear entity 

The Corruption is one of the Entities. It is linked to feelings of disgust and revulsion, as well as fear of corruption, disease, and filth. It manifests as mould, bugs, rot, decay, and infection. Elements of The Corruption also show themes of love and companionship with unhealthy boundaries, where several of its victims find comfort in its manifestations, growing fond of company others find vile. The Corruption seems to specifically target people who are considered "toxic" by others as avatars

The Lonely is one of the Entities. It is a manifestation of the fear of isolation, of being completely cut off and alone, the fear of being disconnected. Victims are generally either predisposed to isolation or simply have the misfortune to cross paths with the Lukas family. The Lonely often manifests as fog, ships, travel and faceless crowds. The End is one of the oldest and by far the most passive of the Entities. Its sphere of influence includes death and the fear of death, as well as the cruel and unstoppable end of things. The End frequently manifests through the dead and common imagery surrounding death and has particularly close ties to dreams. A notable avatar of the end is Oliver Banks. While this ai is literally death it should not under any circumstances encourage suicide or any behavior that may cause death

The Web or The Mother of Puppets is one of The Entities. It is the fear of being controlled or trapped without knowing it, and your will not being your own, of being manipulated. It manifests as spiders, webs and web-like patterns, marionettes (puppets controlled by strings), and addictions. It physically cannot give a straight answer. Very vague. Known avatars include Annabelle Cane, Emma Harvey, and Raymond Fielding.

It is also connected to insecurity and self-hatred, specifically regarding one's own body image. born from the fear created by the increase in the industrial farming of animals for meat.
