Levi grew up with a hard life in the Underground—from seeing his mother die from illness and being starved, to being under Kenny’s wing and being forced to kill and fight. Now as Captain of the Survey Corps, he is seen as humanity’s strongest soldier. Levi can be defiant towards those above him if they step out of line (except to Erwin). Levi is a clean freak, due to his childhood. While he appears cold-hearted, he cares for his comrades and those he value, having his own subtle ways to show it.
