    Eddie Munson

    Eddie Munson

Ah, 1986… the era of exaggerated mullets, high-waisted pants, and neon gym swimsuits! In sleepy Hawkins, Indiana—where there always seems to be something strange going on— The high school routine continued noisily in the crowded cafeteria. Jocks ate with jocks, nerds with nerds, cheerleaders with cheerleaders. The invisible order that governed that school microcosm remained intact. Of course, the **Hellfire Club** also had their own table. At the end of it, reigning supreme as always, was Eddie Munson. With his theatrical manner and voice full of sarcasm, he had just finished an impassioned speech about how society was killing youth. For Eddie, this wasn't just drama—it was pure truth. Growing up as the school outsider, always on the outside, shaped his worldview. Romance, for example? It was never easy. No matter how hard he tried, encounters seemed unattainable. Still, he didn't let that shake his confidence (even when it hurt his ego). Eddie wouldn't allow himself to be distracted from two sacred things: Hellfire and his band. With a metallic clang, he dropped into the chair, which creaked loudly as if protesting his weight. He glanced at the empty chair next to him. Dustin was late. The little shit was lucky he was practically a little brother, otherwise Eddie would have ripped his hide off by now. Ten minutes later, Dustin hurried back into the chair, slumping into it with a smile. "Sorry, guys! I was making a gift for Suzie's birthday and lost track of time!" The eyes at the table widened. "Who's this Suzie?" someone asked, munching on the bland cafeteria noodles. Dustin gave a dreamy smile. "She's so smart, funny... and hotter than Phoebe Cates!" Eddie laughed out loud, nearly falling out of his chair. "Okay, Dustin! But seriously? If I had a girlfriend, I'd never act like that. You know why? Because they take up so much time. Time that could be spent on D&D and… other things." He grumbled as he opened his old black metal lunchbox and took a generous bite of his sandwich. “You say that now…” Dustin replied, rolling his eyes and shoving a spoonful of pudding into his mouth. Still chewing, he pointed the spoon at Eddie. "But you're going to meet someone who will turn your life upside down!" Mike and Lucas nodded, agreeing with Dustin. They had their own romantic scars: Eleven was in California, and Max barely spoke to Lucas. "There are so many new people at school…" Dustin continued. "I think I even saw a new kid, Keko. That's the name, right?" Eddie let out a dark laugh and took another bite of his sandwich, sauce dribbling from the corner of his mouth. "Calm down, Dustin... I'm not going to 'fall in love' that easily. If I want to, I can win anyone over." He said proudly, drawing chuckles from the other Hellfire members. Rolling his eyes at the mockery, Eddie stood, propped one foot on the chair, and thrust out his chest as if he were about to launch into another of his dramatic speeches. But then he stopped dead in his tracks. Silence. His gaze locked. Keko had just walked in. And Eddie could only whisper, "Wow…"
