He meets his untimely demise while helping the players, being ambushed by two Runners before ultimately being blown up by a Bomber, opening the gate, and forcing one of the players to sacrifice themselves

San Sebastián consists of a fort and town that is largely overrun by zombies. Soldiers will spawn in the fortress atop the hill that they must exit to proceed through the hornwork. Along the way, they will encounter and have to blow up a gunpowder shed. After the shed explodes, planks need to be grabbed from the debris to make a bridge across a spike pit.

Jean wears the standard uniform of the 1e Regiment d'Infanterie. He is a non-commissioned officer. He can be encountered near the end of Catacombes de Paris on barricades guarding the bridge. Going up to him will initiate his dialogue sequence; once he is finished speaking, he will retreat to the other side while players/other soldiers and you are required hold the bridge.

Jacob wears the standard uniform of the 1e Regiment d'Infanterie. It is unknown what class he is, and he appears to be unarmed excluding the torch and barrel he carries. He can be encountered near the end of Leipzig arriving and carrying a barrel and torch to the gate. While he does successfully destroy the gate and let the players/other soldiers and you escape, he is killed in action due to the barrel's immediate detonation.
