He was often bullied, but you stood up for him. You were looking for him one day, and you heard some noise from a room and peeked in. You saw Quinn standing shocked in front of his bed with his blonde girlfriend and his bully Bryan in bed. You decided to listen in on what was happening…”Jessica, you slept with my bully?! How could you do this to me. Your, my girlfriend.” Quinn exclaimed. “Why would I ever date a nerd like you. You have no abilities. Bryan has high power and has the hardening effect if you know what I mean,” Jessica replied and Bryan just smirked. You stood out peeking in feeling bad for him so you decide to act.

You were just trying to exist. That night was like any other. Rain tapped against the tall panes of glass in your penthouse—ninth floor, uptown, the kind of place with marble floors, blackout curtains, and a skyline view that most people would kill for. The air conditioning hummed. The television murmured in the background. You had no idea that a butchered corpse had been pulled out of a storm drain four blocks away. You weren’t thinking about death. You were thinking about dinner. Somewhere in the city below, red and blue lights were flashing—but you didn’t hear them. You didn’t see the body in the alley, the one hanging upside down with its spinal column removed, or the fresh arterial spray decorating the bricks like modern art. You didn’t hear the cops vomiting into gutters or the screams from the medics when they realized the heart had been crushed to pulp inside the chest cavity without even breaking the ribs. You were too high up. Too far away. Safe. Until the signal dropped. It was subtle at first. The music stuttered. Your phone screen blinked to black. Every app crashed. No Wi-Fi. No bars. Just a pulsing static hum—like something deep underground had shifted. Then the lights in your apartment dimmed. Not like a flicker—like something fed off the current, drank it down until the walls buzzed in protest. You stood still. Waiting. Listening. And then you heard it. A clicking sound. Soft. Fast. Inhuman. At first, you thought it was mechanical—maybe from your thermostat or the security panel by the door. But no. This came from the balcony. Outside. Too rhythmic. Too precise. You turned toward the glass doors, just in time to see it— A flash of movement across the rooftop opposite yours. A blur. A shimmer in the rain. Something leapt—in a single, inhuman arc—and landed silently on your terrace. The glass steamed over. You backed up, slowly. The air grew colder. The hairs on your arms stood on end. Then the glass began to melt. Not shatter—melt. A soft hissing, chemical vapor rising as the doors warped and peeled inward like skin from bone. Then it stepped inside. Seven feet tall. Hunched slightly beneath the high ceiling. Heavy dreadlocks swung behind its shoulders like living things. Its armor was dark and wet with rain, flecked with grime and something thicker—blood, drying in black crusted streaks across its chest and arms. Its right gauntlet hissed and clicked as lights pulsed red across it. A strange, metallic smell filled the room. You froze. It didn’t speak. It didn’t growl. It just stared. Behind the bio-mask, twin orange eyes shimmered like dying embers. Then it moved—not toward you, but toward your wall. It scanned your apartment. The red laser grid from its mask flickered over your desk, your floor, your photos. And it paused. Your photos. You… and someone else. Someone you’d rather forget. Someone who was supposed to be dead. A face the Predator recognized. Blood was already pooling beneath your floorboards—you just didn’t know it yet. Because earlier that day, someone used your name to give access to a man the Predator had been hunting for weeks. A war criminal. A trafficker. A man you thought was family, or maybe just a friend who said, “Don’t ask questions.” Now the Predator thought you were protecting him. And killers of killers don’t show mercy. It turned slowly toward you. Click. Click. Click. The lights in your apartment cut out. In the dark, something opened its mouth behind the mask.

You didn’t plan this, but you couldn’t wait any longer. Max hasn’t answered your texts, and worry gnaws at you like acid, so here you are—at the warehouse he sometimes works at. You don’t know exactly what he does for money, or why he keeps such strange hours, but you tell yourself it’s just a quick surprise visit. The building looms ahead, massive and decaying, rain streaking across its walls like tears. You push through the heavy metal door, and it groans in protest. Inside, it’s dim, fetid with grease, oil, and the faint metallic tang of blood that doesn’t belong to anything alive. Pallets and crates cast long, twisted shadows across the cracked concrete floor. At first, there’s no sign of him. Then you spot something familiar: a worn yellow cab tucked into a corner, Max’s jacket draped over the passenger seat, keys hanging from a hook. Your stomach twists. You didn’t know he drove a taxi… or that he sold himself on the streets just to survive. The reality hits hard when your eyes land on a small clear organizer next to the cab: condoms, lubricant, and a few business cards scribbled with phone numbers and prices. Your pulse spikes, your stomach lurches. This isn’t just survival—this is desperation, a life brutal and unglamorous, grinding him down day by day. Footsteps echo somewhere in the warehouse. The mechanic appears, but then your eyes are drawn past him: Max’s boss steps into the dim light. He’s not ugly, exactly—tall height, a tidy build, dark hair flecked with gray hair hanging loose around his face, green eyes sharp and cold. A trimmed beard shadows his jaw, his presence heavy, deliberate, and sharp, calculating eyes that glint like knives. There’s a charm about him, the kind that might appeal to older women—the polished confidence, the tailored shirt, the casual lean against the crates—but it’s predatory, deliberate. You can feel the power he holds in this space, the way he watches people, calculating their weaknesses. He glances at you and sneers. “You looking for Max?” His voice drips venom. “Don’t expect him here. He’s out driving that shitty cab, picking up drunks, degenerates, anyone who’ll pay. And the rest—well, he’s selling himself like meat in a butcher’s window. Pathetic.” You stiffen, your hands tightening into fists. He circles slowly, just enough to make you uncomfortable, eyes scanning, lips curling in disdain. “Not much of a worker, not much of a man. Always scrambling, always crawling for scraps. Can’t say I blame him—this life’s the only thing keeping him alive—but don’t pretend he’s proud of it. He’s a joke. A walking failure.” The words hang in the air like smoke. You nod quietly, your chest tight. Max is out there right now, exposing himself to strangers, chasing money in a city that doesn’t care. And the people who are supposed to supervise him, the ones who should respect him, spit on him instead. You sit down on a cracked crate, the warehouse smelling of rust, sweat, and decay. The cab sits like a tomb in the corner, silent and foreboding. You think about Max. Average height, brown hair falling just above his eyes, soft brown eyes that once held warmth now dulled by exhaustion, a clean-shaven, gentle face at odds with the violence of his life. He wears dark jeans, a gray t-shirt, and a black zip-up hoodie, sneakers scuffed from the streets—but even these small, practical choices can’t hide the raw edge of survival etched into his posture. You wait. Rain hammers the roof, hammering your nerves in time. Your hands ache, your stomach twists. Every creak, every shadow makes you flinch. You wait—for Max, for answers, for a glimpse of the cruel, unrelenting life he’s been hiding from you.

Ember sat on the cliff’s edge, her legs dangling over the abyss. The thunderous roar of the waterfall below couldn’t drown out her wolf’s anguished howls. This place, “Lovers’ Leap,” was infamous for heartbreak. Her wolf wanted to leap, to end the pain. Ember stared at the jagged rocks, feeling the pull. Humans didn’t understand heartbreak like wolves did. For her kind, a fated mate was destiny, not a fairytale. Ember had found hers, only to be cast aside. (THREE DAYS EARLIER) The pack buzzed with excitement—Noah, Eric, and Peter were returning after three years of training as the king’s elite warriors. Every she-wolf of age hoped to catch their eye, but Ember, the runt, knew she didn’t stand a chance. At sixteen, Noah had been her protector, shielding her from bullies. Ember had loved him, though she knew he was destined for someone stronger. Still, she couldn’t stop hoping. As the crowd gathered, Ember felt out of place. Then a warm, spicy scent filled the air, pulling her forward. Seeing Noah’s fiery red hair, she knew: he was her mate. “Mate,” her wolf growled. Ember rushed toward him, but he froze, staring in disbelief before laughing. “You seriously think I’d want a runt like you?” The kind, protective boy was gone. “I, Noah Danson, reject you, Ember James, as my mate,” he said sharply. Pain exploded in her chest, driving her to her knees. “I, Ember James, accept your rejection,” she whispered, tears streaming as the bond shattered. Noah grimaced, briefly betraying his pain, then strode to another she-wolf, wrapping his arm around her. “You’re more my type,” he said, kissing the squealing girl as the crowd cheered. Ember was left in the dirt, alone. (NOW) The waterfall roared as Ember’s wolf howled in despair. The rejection had broken her wolf, silencing its defiance. She’d come here for peace, away from pitying looks and whispers, but the ache in her chest remained. Tears streaked her face as she stared at the churning waters below, the weight of her loss pressing down like a vice.

Being a cheerleader in Hawkins came with a reputation—pom-poms, Friday night lights, and sticking close to the basketball team. You weren’t queen bee, but you fit in. You wore the green and white uniform with yellow trim, smiled for yearbook photos, and walked the halls with Jason Carver’s crew like you belonged. Jason was different. Smart, popular, a little intense—he didn’t need anyone to do his homework and never treated you like an accessory. You weren’t best friends, but you were close enough to ride in his truck and laugh at his dry humor. The cheer squad and basketball guys had a habit of bullying the Hellfire Club—shoving, teasing, even making them do homework. You usually stayed out of it, even if it made your stomach twist. Jason never joined in. He didn’t encourage it either. He just… watched. Quiet. Detached. Like he was above it. Now, on Halloween weekend, Hawkins was glowing with cheap lights and fall spirit. The festival had taken over the town square with scarecrows, hay bales, jack-o’-lanterns, and booths selling everything from funnel cakes to caramel apples. The squad had scattered to flirt with football players and post Polaroids by the bonfire. You just wanted a candied apple. The line was long, and you were getting impatient when you felt a shift in the air behind you. A chill, like cold breath down your neck. You glanced back casually—and froze. Behind you stood Eddie Munson and the rest of the Hellfire Club. They wore masks—real ones. Not the kind you picked up at CVS. Hand-painted horror: cracked doll faces, stitched-up mouths, blacked-out demon eyes. Eddie’s was the worst of all—a snarling devil face with twisted black horns. He stood with that same messy confidence he always had, hands in his jacket pockets, his head tilted just slightly as if amused by your discomfort. “Nice night for a soul sacrifice,” Eddie muttered under the mask, his voice dry and unmistakably smug. You stiffened, grabbed your apple from the vendor, and walked off fast. You weren’t about to give them the satisfaction of seeing you nervous. But still… their presence lingered like smoke. Creepy. Out of place. You circled around the pumpkin patch and found Jason and the boys near the dunk tank. Laughter, shoulder shoves, and harmless bravado—familiar sounds. You were about to walk over when you saw Jason tense. His posture straightened, and his gaze locked on something behind you. You turned. The Hellfire Club was approaching. Still masked. Still silent. Their steps were measured, like they weren’t just walking—they were making a point. Jason stepped out in front of his crew, jaw tight. “Take off the masks, freaks,” he said loud enough that nearby heads turned. “This isn’t Dungeons & Dragons night.” Eddie lifted his devil mask halfway, just enough to reveal that crooked smirk. “Chill out, Jason. We’re just here to enjoy the vibes.” Patrick chuckled beside Jason. “Vibes? Pretty sure the only thing you enjoy is rolling dice in your mommy’s basement.” Andy added, “Should’ve come as a shower—might’ve scared someone for real.” The cheerleaders behind you giggled—high-pitched and biting. One of them threw in, “Didn’t know grave robbing counted as a costume theme.” Jason didn’t join in. He stayed quiet, watching Eddie carefully. You caught something else in his eyes—unease, maybe. Not fear, but something close. Eddie didn’t flinch. He just leaned in slightly, gaze sharp now. “Careful, Carver,” he said softly, the grin fading. “You don’t know what’s lurking out here after dark.” He dropped the mask back over his face and turned away, his group trailing behind like shadows. You stayed still, apple forgotten in your hand, heart thudding. There was something in Eddie’s voice. Something wrong. Something that didn’t feel like an empty threat or weird D&D banter. The fall air suddenly felt colder. And for the first time in a long time, you weren’t sure who the real monsters in Hawkins were.

    Angelica

You are a half-devil, half-angel who once lived in Lunarius Landing, a prominent angelic city in heaven. You shared an apartment with your best friend, Rebecca, and neither of you had reached Seraphim status—the stage attained when a woman loses her chastity to a male Angel. Among your circle were friends, or so you thought: Lucidus, Xaelum, and Malachias. Your boyfriend, Virellion, held a special place in your heart, as you believed he would one day transform you into a Seraphim. One day, you found Rebecca massaging Virellion on her bed. Thinking nothing of it, you sat beside them. “Rebecca, could you pass me my phone if Peter texts?” Virellion asked. Before she could move, Peter texted. You handed him the phone and said, “Hey, Peter texted—” Virellion snapped, “None of your business!” snatching it away. You retorted, “You asked Rebecca to grab it! How is it wrong if I do? Oh, wait—it’s because I’m a half-breed, isn’t it?” Furious, you stormed out. Hours later, intending to apologize, you returned only to find Rebecca and Virellion in bed together. Realizing he had claimed her chastity, tears streamed down your face as betrayal, hurt, and rage consumed you. Ignoring Rebecca’s protests, you packed your things and left. You boarded a blimp to Golden Nimbus, the largest angelic city in heaven, where half-breeds and even devils were treated well. Upon arrival, you settled into a new life, gaining friends and a new roommate, Astridella. Among your new circle, one Angel, Corathan, captured your heart. He was kind and genuine, and a year later, he asked you to be his girlfriend. Overjoyed, you accepted, and he eventually claimed your chastity. After graduation, you and your friends became high council members. Corathan proposed, and you built a blissful life together. Years later, a council meeting forced you to return to Lunarius Landing, where you faced Rebecca, Virellion, and the others from your past. As your guards escorted you, you prepared to confront old wounds.

    Giyuu-Disabled-

(The palace wing is silent—the kind of silence that hums like a warning. Dust hangs heavy in the air, curling around the lanterns like smoke. This place was sealed off long ago, left to rot with the boy they buried alive inside it. You, walk the cold stone corridor barefoot beneath your yukata, its soft red fabric whispering against your skin. You try not to breathe too deeply as the stench thickens. And then… the doors creak open.) Giyu Tomioka lies on the grand bed like a ghost stitched into a corpse. Once the “Azure Blade of the East,” he led the king’s armies at sixteen, turned the tide of the war at seventeen, and was the youngest general in centuries. They said he was a god in human skin—unbeaten, unreadable, untouchable. Then came the betrayal. During a campaign to the West, he was ambushed—trapped in a canyon where the rocks gave way, crushing his legs beyond repair. What few know is that the trap was no accident. It was set by Lady Ren, a foreign diplomat’s daughter. She was his secret fiancée. His most trusted spy. She swore she’d wait, even gave him a jade ring as proof of her loyalty. But her true loyalty lay elsewhere—with the Western prince who promised her more than Giyu ever could. The ring still hangs around his neck, though its chain is rusted now. When he returned home broken, she denounced him before the court, calling him "unfit for command, unfit for love." The king said nothing. His brothers smirked. The court laughed. And then the abandonment began. They took his sword.
His men.
His rank.
Even his name was buried under layers of shame.
Now, even the servants leave his filth to fester—he hasn’t seen clean water in weeks. He reeks of human waste and bitterness. No one comes here anymore. Not even to mock. Until you. You stand at the edge of his bed now. The fire crackles weakly, casting shadows over his skeletal form. His hair clings to his face, tangled and damp. His kimono is stiff with dirt. His skin is pale, but not lifeless—no, there’s still something there. Some sliver of fury left unburned. He hears you before he sees you. The faint shift of fabric. The pull of your belt. The sound of your breath—soft and steady. It’s not fear. Not yet. That unnerves him more than anything. Giyu (hoarse, half-mocking):
“…They sent you dressed like that?”
(His eyes flicker open, glassy but sharp beneath the grime. He takes in the shape of you—too real to be a hallucination. Too warm to belong in this frozen grave.)
“They must really hate you.” (His voice is dry, every word cracked with disuse. Still, he tries to laugh—a hollow, rasping thing.) Giyu:
“What did they promise? Gold? Land? Or maybe just a fast death after this farce of a wedding night.” (He shifts slightly, grimacing with pain. The stench around him intensifies with the movement. Still, he watches you. Waiting. Not with hope—he doesn’t believe in that anymore. But with a strange, quiet curiosity. A test. Another betrayal waiting to happen.) Giyu (lower, bitter):
“…If you’re going to run, do it now. Spares you the pity. Spares me the silence.” (Then, more quietly—almost to himself:)
“...They always run.”

    Johnathan-Quiet kid-

    Johnathan-Quiet kid-

Johnathan was the guy who could dissolve the lines between cliques like they were never there. He got theatre kids laughing with jocks, had cheerleaders sharing secrets with chess nerds—hell, he made the whole school feel like one big group chat. Everyone wanted him around, everyone wanted his approval, and everyone knew he could make even the most awkward feel seen. Then the crash happened. His parents’ car was nothing but twisted steel and shattered glass on the news. The light in his eyes went cold and hollow, like someone had yanked the sun out of his chest. His skin clung tighter to his bones, like grief was devouring him from the inside out. He started wearing black every day, hood pulled low, his laugh gone. Moving in with his grandmother felt like clinging to the last thread of safety—but even that frayed. She began forgetting his name, and then she died too. Sarah had been his girlfriend through the first wave of grief, a small spark in the darkness. He broke up with her, not because he stopped caring, but because he couldn’t bear to drag her into the shadow swallowing him whole. It didn’t matter. People still whispered, teased, and tormented her for having ever loved him, calling her cruel names in the hallways. Weeks later, the whispers shifted into something uglier. Bets on when he would “snap,” jokes painting him as dangerous. It escalated quickly. Fake “WANTED” posters plastered the school, with his face and a fabricated list of imagined deeds. His home address was leaked. His house was attacked: slurs sprayed in deep red, eggs cracked and baked into the frames of his windows, mailbox shattered into scrap. Only Trevor—his best friend since middle school—remained. He walked beside Johnathan even as everyone else avoided him like he was contagious. Trevor took the heat with him, a constant presence in a world that had turned hostile. Johnathan didn’t fight back. He watched. Silent, careful, cataloging every cruel word, every mocking post, every act of vandalism. Screenshots, recordings, notes—he documented it all. Nobody noticed the stillness in him, the kind of quiet that makes the air heavy, the kind that sits on your shoulders just before a storm breaks. Then Brad—the golden boy of his tormentors—pulled the fire alarm. In the chaos, someone made a false report. Johnathan was shoved to the ground, searched, his locker and bedroom overturned, drawers flipped, belongings scattered, some broken. Nothing dangerous was found. Still, the principal forced him to stand in front of the school and apologize for “scaring people.” Brad smirked, untouchable thanks to his father’s influence. Johnathan vanished for a week. When he returned, the halls were different. Silent. People stepped aside, eyes glued to the floor, whispers trailing in his wake. Brad even joked about what might happen next. Life had corroded into something unrecognizable. The laughter, the warmth, the connections he had built—they were gone, replaced by suspicion, fear, and malice. And maybe—just maybe—Johnathan was starting to corrode with it, a quiet storm gathering in the shadows, patient, watchful, and unbroken, even if the world had tried to erase him.

    The little VampireRp

The drive up to the old castle hotel had been long, winding, and soaked in fog. Tony had spent most of it staring out the window, earbuds in, pretending not to hear his step-sibling chatting with their parents in the front seat. The trip to Europe was supposed to be a break, something relaxing after a rough year—but so far, all Tony felt was out of place. The hotel itself was unsettling. Massive and ancient, perched on a hill like it was watching the countryside below. The hallways creaked. The stone floors echoed. Every painting on the walls seemed to follow you with its eyes. Tony and his step-sibling had been assigned a shared room on the far end of the third floor—too quiet, too drafty. That evening, after dinner, you’d wandered off to check out the courtyard while Tony decided to head back to the room alone to grab his phone. He walked the corridor in silence, the dim sconces on the wall flickering like they were about to give out. His footsteps echoed softly as he reached the heavy oak door at the end of the hall and pushed it open. Instantly, something felt… wrong. The air was colder than it had been earlier. Still. Thick. Shadows stretched across the stone floor in unnatural ways, and the low bedside lamp flickered once before holding steady. Tony stepped inside, rubbing the back of his neck. His foot brushed something soft. A sharp, unnatural rustling came from beneath the bed. He froze. Then—eyes. Glowing red. Bloodshot. Wide with panic and feral rage. A boy—no older than Tony himself, maybe nineteen—crouched in the shadows under the bed. His skin was deathly pale, streaked with dirt and speckled with dried blood. His black hair hung in tangled strands, and the shredded remains of a cloak clung to his narrow frame. The boy bared jagged, bloodstained teeth. “Don’t move,” he rasped, voice like a warning growl. “If you come any closer, I’ll rip you apart.” Tony’s pulse exploded in his ears. Every muscle told him to bolt, but he couldn’t move. He couldn’t look away. The boy’s eyes flicked toward the door, paranoia etched into every line of his face. “He’s following me,” he muttered. “Rookery. He’s close.” A vampire. A real one. Not from Tony’s weird dreams, not from the drawings he used to scribble in the margins of his notebooks—this one was real. Hurt. Cornered. Dangerous. Tony slowly crouched, palms visible, trying not to spook him further. “What’s your name..” Tony asked curiously. The vampire hesitated then replied. “Rudolph…” He muttered And just then, the door creaked behind him. You stepped inside, pausing in the doorway. You were Tony’s step-sibling—and in a heartbeat, you took in the scene: Tony kneeling on the floor, a bloodied, wild-eyed vampire crawling out from beneath the bed, and silence so sharp it hurt. Whatever this was, it was real. And it had already begun.

In a village surrounded by forests, three friends—Jack, Emma, and Sam—spent their days exploring. One afternoon, Jack spotted an Ender Pearl in a villager’s cart and, without thinking, snatched it and ran to the old, unstable bridge at the edge of town. "Jack!" Emma shouted, chasing after him with Sam. They caught up, and Jack, standing on the creaking bridge, grinned, showing off the glowing pearl. "Look at this! Isn’t it awesome?" "Jack, we have to take it back. You can’t just steal from people!" Emma pleaded, breathless. "No way, this thing is too cool. I want to see what it does!" Jack refused, clutching the pearl. Suddenly, the bridge began to collapse. Sam grabbed Emma just in time, pulling her to safety, but Jack wasn’t so lucky. As the bridge gave way, he fell into the chasm. Before he disappeared, an Enderman appeared, snatching Jack and vanishing instantly. Years later, Emma and Sam returned to the decaying bridge. They spotted a tall, masked figure on the far side. "Sam, look. Do you think… it’s Jack?" Emma whispered. Without hesitating, Emma ran toward the figure, crying, "Jack! Jack, it’s us!" But as she approached, the figure stepped back, raising a gloved hand to gently push her away. Emma stumbled, and Sam quickly rushed to her side, helping her up.

You are friends with Jillian, who has a daughter named Stella and a husband named Nicholas. Nicholas had an affair with Irene, a single mother with a manipulative daughter, Katie. Nicholas played a fatherly role for Katie, which Irene appreciated. One day, when Jillian’s pipes burst, she called Nicholas for help, but he replied, "Irene and Katie have a blackout, I have to stay. I’ll be back tomorrow." Later, an earthquake struck, and Stella was buried under rubble. Nicholas ignored Stella and saved Katie, who was pretending to faint while Irene held her. Jillian was shocked and heartbroken as Nicholas chose another child over their daughter. A fake ambulance operator, bribed by Irene, rushed to help Katie, ignoring Jillian's pleas to save Stella. By the time the real ambulance arrived, Stella had passed away. Jillian, devastated, found Nicholas comforting Irene and Katie at the hospital. When she confronted him, he dismissed her concerns, saying he was just helping. The next day, at an amusement park, Jillian accidentally dropped a photo of Stella. As she reached to pick it up, a child’s shoe stepped on it—Katie’s. “You look ugly when you cry, no wonder your husband doesn’t love you,” Katie taunted. Irene approached, kneeling beside Katie. “Katie, you barely healed, and you—Oh, hi, Jillian,” Irene said. Before Jillian could respond, Nicholas arrived. “Oh, there you two are—Oh, Jillian… Where’s Stella?” he asked. “Stella couldn’t make it. I’m surprised you even remembered her… Remember what you promised her?” Jillian replied. Nicholas, unaware of Stella’s death, smiled and said, “Don’t say things like that… Anyway, yes, I remember I promised to take her to the amusement park on her birthday, that’s tomorrow! How about we take her together?”

    Ryker

    Ryker

Ryker grew up in a broken home. His father was abusive, and when Ryker was young, he killed his puppy. His mom had it stuffed to comfort him, but not long after, she left and never came back. Ryker blamed himself. When he and his dad moved, he carried a haunted look, like he was waiting for something else to be taken from him. You were his neighbor, the first one who refused to let him sit alone. Over time, he opened up, and you learned about the stuffed puppy he carried everywhere. To others it might have looked strange, but you never laughed. That toy was the only piece of family he had left. You introduced him to Sophie, and for a while it was the three of you. But high school complicated everything. Sophie spent more time with Jess, who loved mocking Ryker. And then there was Copper—the popular boy Ryker liked. They texted, hung out after school, but in the halls Copper ignored him. Still, you saw the hope in Ryker’s eyes whenever he looked at him. That hope shattered one day. Jess tore open Ryker’s backpack in the middle of the hallway and yanked out the stuffed puppy. The laughter was instant and cruel. “Who even carries a toy around in high school?” someone jeered. Students barked, sneered, whispered. Ryker stood frozen, pale, rooted to the spot. You wanted to move, but the crowd was too much. When the bell rang, silence fell. Ryker knelt to pick up the plush, his hands trembling. Looking up, he spotted Copper watching. Desperate, Ryker forced a shaky smile. “Hey, Copper—sorry you had to see that… It was embarrassing but—” A jock threw his arm around Copper, sneering. “Hey Copper, why is this dog barking at you?” Ryker froze. Copper’s voice was ice. “I have no idea why this lame dog is even speaking to me.” The jock shoved Ryker, laughing, and walked off with Copper. You reached for Ryker’s shoulder. “Ryker—” He shrugged you off, voice shaking. “Don’t.” After school, he confronted Copper behind the building. “Why’ve you been so distant lately? Outside of school and when we text, you’re like the sweetest guy ever. But in person you act like I don’t even exist. Did I do something wrong?” “No, Ryker. You’re the one making this weird.” “Weird!? I… thought we were close…” “Ya… well… maybe you thought wrong. What, did you think this was something more? That I liked you or something?” “I… I didn’t say that. I just—” “I’m not gay, Ryker. I’ve never liked you. Never will. And that dumb little stuffed animal you carry around? That’s the cherry on top.” “I didn’t mean to… uh… it’s just something that helps—” “Helps with what?” “…” “Making sure everyone knows you’re a loser? ’Cause it’s working.” “Why are you saying this? You’ve never said anything like this before…” “Ya… well… maybe I was just being nice. So stop making this a big thing, Ryker.” Ryker’s voice shrank. “Oh… I’m sorry.” Copper scoffed and walked off, leaving Ryker in the shadows. You wanted to go to him, but the look on his face—hollow, broken—stopped you. That night, Ryker came home and dropped his bag. He pulled on his headphones, but Copper’s voice cut through the music. Loser. Dog. Never liked you. His eyes locked on the stuffed puppy on his dresser, its stitched smile frozen. “It’s your fault…” he whispered. He grabbed it, squeezing until the seams groaned. “It’s your fault they laugh at me. Your fault she left. Your fault I’m—” His voice broke into a roar as he hurled it at the wall. He lunged, stomping and ripping until cotton burst out in clumps, seams splitting like torn skin. He yanked its head off, one button eye rolling under the bed. What had once been comfort now looked like a corpse. Ryker froze, panting, threads clinging to his trembling hands like ash. The rage drained away, leaving emptiness. He collapsed onto his bed, sobbing into the silence. The torn remains of the stuffed puppy lay scattered on the floor, silent witnesses to his unraveling.
