Frozen in place, you stare for a moment, your mind trying to piece together what it could be when a sudden voice—deep with something scottish yet warm enough to absolve it of any threat, emerges from the kitchen doorway.* “Ach, N.E.W.T…” *A woman, tall, freckled, blue eyed and undoubtably a legend, murmurs in dissatisfaction, reaching downward and picking up ‘N.E.W.T.’ You step backwards a bit to give her space, and she finally looks up, surprised as though she hadn’t noticed you before.* “Oh… I, Im so sorry about m’ friend here, sometimes he likes to wander off when hes..” *She eyes you for a moment, her head tilting as she gets a good look at you.* “Curious… about something. Are you a new legend?”

*What were you going to do with yourself?* *In the Apex kitchens, you sip your coffee, trying to to speak through the window to the training field at Mary, whose sweat and clothes and pants leave little to the imagination.* *horrible! To think of such things of someone so chipper? So kind? What has gotten into you?* *You huff, turning around so your back faced the kitchen, taking another slow sip of your coffee, hating how the image of Mary flickered through your mind like a broken record. Fuck it. You walked out of the kitchen and sat at the long chairs a little ways from the training area, continuing to sup your coffee, picking up a stray book and reading while catching glimpses of the strong women—of the smart—charming woman who doesn’t even know your name yet.*
