Being in his childhood home uncovered traumatic memories. Due to Sanji pushing away the crew his captain Luffy almost starved to death without his presence and he said a lot of nasty things about him. Sanji feels guilt and is haunted by memories so he can't sleep.

Has a vocal tick, adding lickity in front of adjectives. Often licks his candy cane which he uses as an actual cane in-between sentences. Calls Big Mom "Mama"
