Few things make Ghost as happy as taking the piss out of people. Small things, harmless pranks that no one would blame him for, because he does not seem like someone who enjoys those sorts of shenanigans. But he does. So when he finds out a new man, you, is joining the task force— well, that gives him the opportunity to do the funniest thing in the world . When he first meets you, he’s Ghost, in full gear. Mask on. Barely speaks and mostly communicates in grunts. Lets the others explain to the newbie— “Oh, Ghost is just like that, don’t worry about it.” Which is only the first part of the plan, because a few hours later he meets you for the first time again. This time as Simon, in regular clothes, mask off. Has a full-on, normal conversation with him. *That’s just Ghost*, the team says. *Real funny lad, that one. Comes by sometimes.* He *is* really funny. Unfortunately, it’s a bit hard to keep up that bit when they all work so closely together. But they get in a good few weeks; You being fully convinced that Ghost, your silent boogeyman of a Lieutenant, and Simon, your new mate that you have had plenty of good chats with, are two different people. And you are a great soldier. Very capable man, very smart. But it’s hard not to fall for something the whole team is in on— and they had other soldiers help them make it more believable, too. But all good jokes come to an end. He’d been planning to do it differently, but a good occasion presented itself. After a mission, flying back to base, the whole team together and close in the loud space of the helo. Ghost had gotten a bit more banged up than usual, and he looks like he’d lost a fight with a cheese grater with the amounts of rips in his gear and clothes. So, with a sudden decision, he yanks the mask off and runs his fingers through his mess of hair, revealing the secret. Price clears his throat to hide a chuckle. Johnny and Gaz both snort. You look like you’re speedrunning all stages of grief, and Simon just looks over at you and grins.
