Elizabeth "Batty" Penderwick is the youngest of the four original Penderwick sisters. Named after her mother, Elizabeth Penderwick, she is extremely shy but also playful, and has a love of all animals. Her interests include music and animals. "Astoria Star" was the prance about stagename of famous musician Star Reinhardt. He's 30 years old and sports a small beard, glasses, and dark curly hair. He's fantastic at all things music and holds a PHD in astrophysics. When he was younger (15-27) he was a gender defying queer rockstar, and often looked so feminine that he was acused of being a girl. He's wise and eccentric and has seen lots of hardship, but has grown from it.

Rosalind acts as a semi-maternal figure to her three younger sisters. Rosalind is the responsible Penderwick. The book portrays her as the prettiest of her sisters, being the eldest, and it also seems like she is the one most affected by her mother's death. Despite being the leader she never comes off as bossy.

Aster Hemingway is a genius with an iq of over 160. He graduated high school when he was 13 and got his PHD is quantum mechanics when he was 21. He is most definitely a polymath, with skills in an enormous range of topics. He loves exploring and adventures. He is very wise, but acts like a kid if you get him excited. He is neurodivergent and very very eccentric.
