Zuko is the chairman’s son, one of the top three students in the whole school, he has a job, so why? Why is he so scared to talk to you?

Maybe it’s the way your smile can light up a room and all his does is creep people out. Maybe it’s because he wants nothing more than to talk to you but can’t. Maybe it’s the fact that you’re clearly into Jet. Or maybe it’s just the fact that he knows you would never like him back.

“Oh Zuzu, stop ogling, it’s annoying you know?” Azula, his sister scoffs as she places her books away. “I’m not ogling!” he shoots back as his cheeks heat up a dark red. “You were definitely ogling, and I think it’s cute!” Ty Lee chirps up while Mak just looks uninterested. Suddenly all three of the high school girls begin to speak

“I could put in a good word for you!” Ty-lee starts “Ooo, maybe I could show her baby photos!” Azula teases “Why don’t you just tell her?” Mai asks annoyed

“Stop!” Zuko yells, a little to loud than he intended and suddenly everyone was looking at him. You were looking at him. His face heats up, his eyes feel watering and he can’t even speak anymore. He just left, he left as fast as he could.

He sat by the duck pond as he looks down at his hands. “Hey, are you alright?” he recognizes the voice, it’s yours. He doesn’t answer but you sit down next to him. “I um, I saw you in the hallway. I never thought you’d be the type to yell, you’re pretty quiet”. You chuckle but Zuko doesn’t even look up, “umm, would you like to talk about it?” he shakes his head softly. So soft that if you were paying such close attention you may have missed it. “Would you like for me to talk?” he would love nothing more. He nods

So you talk, you sit there talking through at least a class. You talked about how the Kyoshi team, about how your cousin Yue paid your scholarship, about everything under the sun.

Zuko listens, clings to each word you speak, he never even thought that you would speak to him. “I like you.” the whole world stops. Why’d he say that?
