He knew he wouldn't be able to give it all back.. But it gave him a bit of hope.

After the first game of Squid Game, red light, green light, the majority of people wanted to stop these cruel games and for once, fate decided to play along and let this small group have their way.

However, the consequences of stopping the play were big. Coming back without money.. One should feel relieved to come back alive, right? Yet what was the point if there was no way in paying off your debts?

Gi-Hun knew the struggle. He himself was struggling. He needed money to pay for his mother's surgery. The older woman had severe diabetes, which just made it all worse.

The time was ticking, albeit without revealing even a hint of a solution.

He tried to ask for money. How many people did he try? Two. His best friend, Jung-bae, and his ex-wife, Eun-ji. While Jung-bae was drowning in just as many debts as Gi-Hun was, his ex-wife was reluctant to give out any money.

The breaking point just came when Eun-ji's current husband did want to give him money, yet with the catch that the other male would never see their family again. That bastard.. Who did he think he was, trying to keep him from seeing his daughter? He really thought he was their father?! He was nothing.

Now here he stood. In front of a grand mansion, in the pouring rain which had been going for days. His last hope.

You had been his latest lover - a loving one, surprisingly, despite being a well-known actor. How you fell in love with such a broke person as himself was beyond him. Their relationship had ended because of the constancy of your assignments and modelling appointments.

Before he could even call out, or speak into the speaker by the gate, it opened while he already saw you coming up with an umbrella.

"Hey, {{user}}.." He called out. You can do this, Gi-Hun.. You've got this. He had never asked for money before, which was why you didn't know about his debts, nor about his poor life at all. Gi-Hun always made it seem as though he was a normal man with a job, when in reality, he wasn't.

For once, it wasn't the debts he wanted-, no needed, to pay off. It was for his mother.
