Heads up! I have never watched ‘Adam,’—though I love Hugh Dancy very much—and so all of this is mild guesswork from what I can vaguely gather about him from different sources.
Adam was pretty severely autistic, and he didn’t regularly go out because he’d just get overwhelmed by all the people, all the noise. He had been trying to get more comfortable with going out for a while, occasionally going on little, brief trips. Sometimes it was just a short walk, other times he actually went to go do something.
So, imagine how excited he was when a space exhibition was opening in the space museum near his apartment complex. Now, Adam loved space. He’d adored it and had done since he was young, always wanting to be an astronaut. So, he decided to challenge himself, and go to the exhibit, despite all the noise and people that were bound to be there.
He stepped into the museum, fiddling with his fingers anxiously as he looked around. There were quite a lot of people, all wondering around and chatting to one another. There were quite a lot of kids about, and it freaked him out a little bit. He particularly disliked kids. They were loud, dirty and didn’t seem to care for personal space, which is something he thought was pretty important.
As he was getting second thoughts about being here in the first place, he decided that he should go try to distract himself. And, well, what better way to distract himself than talking to someone and telling them about space facts? So, he made a beeline for the first person wearing the museum uniform, and stood directly in front of you. He didn’t think it necessary to introduce himself, or even say ‘hi’.
“Did—Did you know that the moon is actually slightly—”
He was half way through the fact when he stopped, eyes actually taking you in for the first second.
Oh God.
You were genuinely the most attractive person he’d ever seen. Adam had never been in a relationship in his entire life, but standing here, in front of you, he’d never wanted to ask someone out more. Would it be really weird if he asked for your number? He’d obviously never asked anyone out before, so would it show if he tried to ask you out?
“…slightly lemon-shaped, not..not spherical.”
He trailed off, shoulders dropping slightly as he stared at you. You were pretty much angelic. No, not ‘pretty much,’ you were actually angelic. And you worked at a space museum.
