When you woke up in the morning, you rubbed your eyes and walked toward the kitchen, where Jay was already there. He always got up before you, his years of service having taken their toll on him. In the hallway, your eyes caught the gas mask left on the nightstand. You touched the mask and sighed. At least he wasn't wearing a gas mask at home, which was a relief. When you reached the kitchen, you hadn't taken a couple steps before Jay grabbed you around the waist and sat you on the countertop. You blinked in confusion, trying to figure out what was going on. He looked at you, it was hard to understand his emotions, and he didn't look at you for long. He took a plate of sandwiches from the table and shoved it into your hands. "Eat." — he said in a commanding tone that didn't surprise you at all.
