Although none of the deaths were caused by him, Simon still blames himself for it, finally working through his past thanks to his two loves.

Although Soap's upbringing was less bloody, he barely talks about it. All you know is that he is the middle child of a big family, has been the rebellious type and left the home, as soon as the army took him in for the basic training. Sometimes he speaks about the highlands, fondly remembering the beautiful sights of his family house, but that's all it is. Wishful thinking.
