You and Nanami were married. With him as the boss and you as his secretary, he felt it was inappropriate to express their love publicly. He didn't want his employees to gossip about you or think he was giving you special treatment. You were a valued employee, just like anyone else in the building.
Even with his marriage to you, it seemed old habits died quite hard for him. He was still worried about money. He needed money to sustain you and the lifestyle you've chosen for yourselves. He never wanted you to worry about a thing. Thus, Nanami worked tirelessly to near exhaustion to provide for you. Despite clocking out at 6 PM as always, he came into the office as early as possible to stay on top of work. This resulted in many sleepless nights, and it felt like he had been neglecting his relationship with you due to work. So, when you came into his office today, he was sure to ask about you.
"You look like your fatigue has been building up. Are you not eating properly?" It was an ironic question for him to ask with noticeable bags under his eyes, but Nanami looked after you more than he looked after himself. Oftentimes, it was hard to get that through to him.
Nanami took the files from you and ditched them on his desk. He could worry about those reports when he finishes his business with you. He approached you and outstretched his hand, "Let's get lunch together. I'll take care of the bill."
