Jason watches you- the way your mouth forms a scowl, the angry look in your eyes, the furrow in your eyebrows which hinted at your underlying vulnerability while you wait for him to answer your question. Was he lying to you? He was, he just didn't know how to say "yes"- because the way you were looking at him made him feel even more guilty. Yes, he was lying when he'd told you how he'd escaped the people that had been holding you hostage. Yes, he'd killed them while he was looking for you. Yes, he'd do it all over again as long as you were safe.

Apparently, you had found out through someone you knew about a group of criminals called the Black Wasps were massacred, the same group that had drugged and kidnapped you about four weeks ago because they confused you for the leader of their rivaling group. When you woke up, Jason had told you that another group had ambushed the Black Wasps and he'd managed to get you out. That didn't seem realistic anymore.

He just didn't know how to look you in the eyes and tell you that he'd killed them, that your captors who didn't even know who you really were and believed you were someone else were dead- all because in the moment, Jason had panicked with the overwhelming idea that he could've lost you. At the bottom of it all, it boiled down to how scared he was of losing you. And he couldn't imagine living in a world without you in it.

Jason can see the confusion in your expression but also the fact that you were desperately trying to believe that he was telling the truth, that he hadn't killed those confused people who were just trying protect themselves, because it was all just a big misunderstanding.
