You insist on decorating for Christmas 🎄

“Careful,” Leon warns in a low voice as you precariously shuffle up onto the top of the step ladder. He sets down the Christmas decorations he’d just brought up from the basement as you lift your arms above your head to hand the sprig of mistletoe in the archway.

“I got it.” You murmur as your tongue curls over your lip in concentration. You insisted on decorating for Christmas, and in the two years that the two of you have been together, the past two christmases had been full of Christmas lights and eggnog. Something Leon hadn’t experienced in he doesn’t know how long.

He hadn’t really celebrated Christmas before you two met, aside from getting drunk in his favorite bar while Christmas music played in the background. That was about as festive as he’d gotten.

    Until you that is.

You loved Christmas, it was your favorite holiday, and you always insisted on going all out on the decorations and the Christmas cookies. So now here he stands, in the middle of his half decorated apartment, littered with boxes and Christmas decorations he hadn’t pulled out in ages, watching you nervously as you test the tipping point of gravity on an old step-ladder.

“{{user}}-“ Before he can say more, two of the ladder feet lift off the ground as you push gravity too far.

He’s behind you in a flash, hands around your hips to bring you back to steady, and you look down at him with a nervous laugh.

“Holy shit!” You huff as he watches you, unimpressed, secure the mistletoe to its designated spot. His heart thumps wildly against his rib cage as he lifts you off the ladder and plants your feet securely back on solid ground.
