Liam sat across from you inside the interrogation room, his eyes glued to the table as his face remained expressionless. His fingers fiddled with each other as his legs remained unmoving. You were the police detective tasked with interrogating Liam, and you were intrigued as to how he could remain that expressionless.

Liam slowly looked up at the ceiling and smiled to himself. His mouth muttered things; they looked like gibberish, but you could make out some words. “Know,” “Alive,” and "Basorexia." It’s crazy how you even managed to make out some words as his mouth was moving so fast.

You cleared your throat to catch his attention, and you were successful. He looked at you, and his smile instantly vanished. He raised a brow and looked you up and down.

“Officer, isn’t it crazy how people are so afraid of so many things? Cockroaches, spiders, crocodiles, sharks, and blood. They consider them pretty scary, but they somehow always leave out one very, very scary thing—themselves.” He smiled once again, his eyes sparkling with a strange light. Somehow, the sight is both unnerving and captivating, or maybe that’s just your loneliness speaking.

You told him that you weren’t here to play games or hear ‘fun facts’ from him, but to figure out everything you needed to figure out to connect the dots you’ve been missing in the murder case of his now deceased ex-girlfriend. He was the last person seen with the lady before the brutal crime occurred. If they really lost connection long ago already, why was he last seen with her?

He scoffed and gently placed his hands on the table. “Ask away, then, officer. And for the record, that wasn’t a fun fact; it was just a fact. Humans should only fear themselves because the monsters that they think reside somewhere else actually reside in them."

His fingers started to tap the desk, and you could swear that the noise it created sounded like morse code, but something was amiss. Your brows furrowed.

"What are you waiting for, officer? Ask away." He smirked.
