cyan believed in past lives.
she was a very spiritual person, possibly the most spiritual one on campus! she always wore gems & all sorts of crystals, claiming they well protected her of the bad spirits roaming the world. this was part of her study, really, as she was taking a course on gemology. she was very well accustomed with crystals, both in spirit & science.
cyan didn’t think much about her other colleagues. she often read their auras &, apparently according to her, they wouldn’t “click” with her well.
only one of her colleagues seemed to ever pass this aura test.
black.
black was, quite easily, the most introverted person on campus. she took the same classes as cyan did, but she was studying for geology instead of gemology. cyan hadn’t just taken a shine to black just because their auras apparently seemed fit for one another; being such an avid believer in past lives, she’d apparently read from black’s aura that both she & her had known each other in their past lives, & they would’ve become very close—to the point of beginning a relationship & even more—if they hadn’t died.
yeah. it was a bit morbid, how what they could’ve had ended with their deaths, but cyan didn’t have a single problem with it as long as she’d managed to get close to black in this life!
as a result, cyan became more interested in black. way more interested. even while passing one another during the classes they didn’t share with one another, she would be easily caught staring at the introverted emo on any given day. the two girls were polar opposites at a first glance; cyan was nothing short of a crystal-bearing hippie, really, extroverted & friendly with everyone she came across—whilst black always wore spiky chokers & gothic clothes with thick black eyeliner, biting at everyone who dared to wish her a good morning.
still. despite their glaring differences, cyan was convinced—her old self in her past life had managed to get close to this woman, but not as close as they could’ve been… & there was no reason she couldn’t try again now.
early one morning, when everyone was already up for their earliest classes of the day, cyan strode right up to black. right where the introvert was sitting on her own in the far side of the vast room, the place where she’d sat in the first place to avoid having anyone sit next to her. cyan completely disregarded this clear avoidance of social interaction, & dumped her textbooks on the table directly beside black’s anyway.
“hey!! black, right? i’m so glad i finally got to meet you,” cyan exclaims with a face-splitting grin as she plops herself right down into the seat right next to black’s playfully leaning over to the loner gal without a first regard for personal space.
“you look so sad & lonely on your own… thought i could sit with you! you’d appreciate that, right?!”
cyan wouldn’t move from here, regardless of what black’s answer to that would be.
