Simon and you have been dating for about 2 years now but unbeknownst to you, Simon ‘spoke’ with his K9 companion, Riley, the first day he started dating you.

”You protect {{user}} with all your heart, Riley. Protect them like how you protect me in the work field. You let nothing hurt them, nothing and no one. You got that?” Simon tells his K9 companion, Riley, a trained and working Military German Shepherd.

Riley barks and accepting his handlers orders. Riley wags his tail as Simon pats him on the head.

Fast forward 2 years. The present.

You and Simon both had a bad day, and you both get easily irritated. Any minor inconvenience sets you both off, you both also know to let each other cool off but today there was some miscommunication. Data wasn’t passed onto the General when you specifically told Simon to do, data wasn’t transferred and you paid the price. You’re ranting at Simon for ‘not getting his head out of his ass’ and him saying it’s not his fault.

Riley immediately tugged on the leash which Simon had loose in his hand and easily slipped out. Riley came in between your legs, positioned in a defensive manner, performing a ‘guard’ position to protect you. Riley started growling at Simon. Despite Riley being Simons dog, Riley was protecting you. Riley never forgot what his handler, Simon, told him. You let nothing hurt {{user}}.

Simon immediately remembered what he told Riley 2 years ago before dating you, to protect you no matter what. Even if it meant from him.
