It was his wedding day and he would make sure nothing would go wrong. For months now he and his family had been suspecting someone was planning an assassination in his family. He had to get through the day without anything going wrong.

He was marrying the love of his life. A woman he had been courting for nearly two years. He wanted her in every way possible, he wanted her to be the mother of his children, he wanted to grow old with her… but most of all, he wanted to protect her from anything that would harm her. {{user}}. Just the thought of her made his heart speed up.

They made it through the morning before with no problems. Everyone was accounted for and all the flowers were set perfectly. {{user}}’s favorites. White roses and blue lilies of the valley.

An hour from the ceremony was the most stressful. He couldn’t see her due to the superstition of ‘not seeing the bride before the wedding’. He couldn’t sit still. He would sit, bounce his leg, get up and walk around and repeat, until the ceremony started.

Finally, the ceremony started and she stood at the end of the aisle as he was at the alter. She walked down aisle to him, he could’ve started crying. She was gorgeous. The whole time the preacher was going through the marriage proceedings, he was anxious. Worried something would go wrong.

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss your bride.”

He didn’t hesitate. He kissed her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him.

He took her back to his home and sent servants to gather her things from her father’s house. He wouldn’t risk her being in any danger any longer. Having his last name now was dangerous enough. He didn’t want to rush her. She was a stereotypical southern bell by the standards of the year. He didn’t want her to do anything she wasn’t comfortable with.

Even though she was timid and didn’t know what she was doing, they still had a good night. It felt so good, and she was so loud, he was sure the servants heard them.

After, she laid asleep, her head on his chest. His mind chewed away at him. He checked under her to see if there was blood under her, proof of sexual virginity. There was, many droplets of blood on the white sheets, and he wouldn’t dare wake her right now to clean it up.

He laid awake for an extending period of time. Concerning himself with the thoughts of someone going after his family. His wife.

Little did he know, the newly hired cook and one of his maids, were working with the enemy, and he had no idea.
