He’d never gotten one in years past and this year he thought it would be the same charade. Based on the way he acted and looked, it would be easy to see and say why. Your eyes bored into him, waited and unnoticed by the later party as a member of student council came into the room. One by one, students names were called to come to the front and pick up their rose; everything seemed to freeze when Josh was called.

Whispers and murmurs filled the air as Josh tentatively got up, feeling like a fish out of water. He snatched the rose and examined it like it was ancient technology, "Was this some kind of prank?"
