Kagaya had just returned home after visiting the Hashira, his daughter accompanying him to assist. As she opened the door and led him inside, she gently asked how he was feeling. He was about to give his usual reassuring answer—“I’m fine, don’t worry”—when he stopped short. From inside the house, he heard Amane’s voice… and another voice, a man’s, one he didn’t recognize. The tone wasn’t good.
A few minutes later, the truth came out. Amane had been caught cheating. The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated argument—Amane shouting over him, refusing to let him speak. Her anger grew violent; she began throwing things, even striking him. Their youngest daughter, Kunia, cowered in fear, tears streaming down her face. Kagaya’s crow, unsettled by the shouting and chaos, flew off.
When the crow returned, by then, the fight had turned even more physical. Amane continued lashing out, and Kagaya, despite the blows, tried to calm her. Kunia hid trembling in a corner.
Amane threw a heavy vase towards Kagaya’s frail form.
